The Burberry brand, created in 1856, has a rich history behind it. Known throughout the world, Burberry's classic trenchcoats are complemented by women's and men's ready-to-wear, sportswear and fine leather accessories. Burberry fragrances are a classic and prestigious extension to their luxury goods line. Currently carrying eight fragrances for women and seven for men - Burberry, the British luxury fashion line made its imprint in the world of perfume with its 2003 release or Burberry Brit. Thomas Burberry, at the age of 21, opened a small outfitters shop in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. By 1870, after earning a loyal following because of his commitment to quality and innovation, the shop had grown into an emporium. He developed Gabardine, the breathable, weatherproof and tearproof fabric in 1880. He also developed the Tielocken, the predecessor of the trench coat. In 1920, the famous Burberry Check, registered as a trademark, was introduced as a lining to the trench coat in the 1920s. Burberry continues to be an internationally recognized luxury brand.
